A Message From The President

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope everybody had a safe and enjoyable time over the Christmas Holiday! Thanks to everyone who came to our December meeting where our topic was Wireless Controls, and a special thanks to Mark Zip who traveled here from Charleston to give us the presentation. The meeting was very well attended. We’re going back to the ASHRAE Standards with our next topic, IAQ Method of 62.1, so be sure to put that on your calendars.

It was discussed during our last Board meeting how the Chapter has been losing (be it a small amount) money the past few months on our Chapter Meetings when you consider the cost of renting the space and the food. The reasons being are higher food costs, attendance numbers being short of RSVP numbers, and the fact that Board of Governor members attend the program for free. It’s been a tradition to let the Board of Governor’s attend the program and eat for free as a token for volunteering on the Board. However we had a vote last month in our Board meeting to start charging half price ($5) to our BOG members for Chapter Meetings. We are hoping this will get our Chapter Meetings back in the black.

A small programming note – we are moving March’s meeting (George McCall on Smoke Evacuation Systems) to April, and we are most likely doing a Clemson ICAR meeting/tour in March. More to follow on that.

As a final thought, we are full steam ahead on planning our Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) that our Chapter is hosting this August. Please let Brandt Williams (CRC Chair) or myself know if you would like to be involved or have any suggestions.
